Brandt Snedeker won his second PGA Tour title of the year Sunday in Canada, but only with a little help from Hunter Mahan and his wife, Kandi. Mahan was leading the tournament by three shots after two rounds, while Snedeker was eight shots adrift. Mahan’s wife went into early labor, though, and the tournament’s leader dropped his clubs on the practice range and bolted to a Dallas hospital to be with his family. Zoe Olivia Mahan was born at 3:26 a.m. Sunday morning, and later that day, Snedeker shot a final-round 70 to hold off Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar. After collecting his trophy, Snedeker made a promise to Zoe.
“Zoe will be getting a very nice baby gift from me. I can’t thank Kandi enough for going into labor early. I don’t know if I’d be sitting here if she hadn’t. But that is a way more important thing than a golf tournament. I missed a golf tournament when my first was born, and it was the best decision I ever made. I’m sure Hunter would say the same thing.”
